City Adventures: Visit to the Chicago Art Institute

Today I trekked down to the Art Institute of Chicago to take advantage of Free Winter Weekdays for Illinois residents! I came with a mission. When I have been in the past, I always have the habit of taking photos. While photos are great in some instances, I have come to the realization that it almost takes away from the experience of being there and absorbing it all. So I left the camera at home and brought my sketchbook. And truthfully, it was awesome! I haven’t sketched in awhile and it was so fun doing that again. Brought me right back to the days of Art History in college!
At the museum I was particularly inspired by the Japanese and Greek decorative arts. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the modern & contemporary art wing, and paintings from the early 1900s, but today I wanted to search for some decorative motifs.
