Cupping at Counter Culture Coffee

This Friday I attended Counter Culture’s weekly Cupping at their new Chicago facility in the West Loop.  Their new cupping training center was so impressive, it had many different brewing methods such as the chemex, siphon, pour-over and clever as well as two beautiful La Marzocco espresso machines. We tasted three different Counter Culture Coffees:

Ethiopian Haru: Chocolate, brown sugar, notes, sweet and light with a bright acidity

Papua New Guinea Baruida: My favorite! Savory fragrance, a fruity-citrusy wild flavor. A very exciting cup.

Sumatra Jagong: Sweet, earthy, grass, dew notes, full bodied.

Overall it was a wonderful Friday morning to learn about some outstanding coffees and meet other fellow coffee enthusiasts. If you are interested in learning more about their schedule of events, check out their website!
