Currently Reading: Two for the Road

I was first introduced to Jane and Michael Stern through the podcast, The Splendid Table. I always looked forward to hearing their “Roadfood” adventures on each episode and when I saw this book I knew that I had to hear more about their travels.

Two for the Road is a collection of Jane & Michael’s adventures through America in search of back-road-small-town food treasures. They are known as one of the pioneers of “Roadfood” with their book that was first published in 1977. I love their sense of adventure and thrill they find in traveling to the next diner, cafe, barbeque joint, supper club, ice cream shop, hot dog stand, or clambake. After reading, all I wanted to do was jump in the car and find some roadfood!

The book has a great index of restaurants in various states. Here are some places close by that I plan on for my own Roadfood Adventure!
