30 Hours in Harbor Country
This past weekend we were lucky enough to be invited by some friends to a lake house in Harbor Country, Michigan. The weather was perfect. When we arrived on Saturday the waves on Lake Michigan were similar to waves I’ve seen in San Diego. We had a major boogie-board session, it was awesome. After a day on the beach we were ready for our evening festivities, starting with a tour of Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks. Journeyman Distillery... Read More
A Tale of Three Barbeques
That’s Right. Three BBQ’s. Three Cities. Here we go… The first BBQ stop was at Smoque BBQ in Chicago. On a Saturday night in brisk April, there was a line out the door. That’s when I knew that we were in the right place. The wait wasn’t too bad, after playing a few games of yahtzee on my phone, we were closer and closer to the delicious smells of smoked barbeque. Joe and I split a full slab of ribs, St. Louis Style... Read More
O.M. Eats: Jeni’s Ice Cream
While we were in Nashville, I made it a point to make a stop at Jeni’s Ice Creams. The ice cream is homemade using delicious, quality ingredients, and milk that is from grass fed cows. Can it get any better than that? I had a waffle cone with one scoop of whiskey-pecan with another with salted caramel. It was heaven. Also, I have to mention that the design and branding is fantastic. Jeni’s, please open a store in Chicago! Photos... Read More

Nashville: 1st Night
Arriving in Nashville Saturday night, our first stop was the infamous Prince’s Hot Chicken. Located in a grungy strip mall on the outskirts of Nashville, you wouldn’t expect a culinary hotspot to be here. We put our order in for the specialty, their hot fried chicken. I ordered the “Medium” hot, while Joe went for the “Hot”. 40 minutes later, the chicken is served on two pieces of white bread with pickles and we... Read More
Pit Stop in Louisville
Yesterday we started our Southbound Road Trip and made our first pit stop for lunch in Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville seems like such a cool city, just getting a “taste” was enough to know that a future visit might be in the cards… We ate lunch at Hillbilly Tea, a charming tea-cafe serving delicious locally sourced-homegrown southern cooking. Joe and I both ordered the Pork Pone which was pulled pork on corn pone (thin cornbread)... Read More
